David Touve

David Touve is an Assistant Professor of Business at Washington and Lee University. In recent years, he has also advised industry clients on issues of strategy and policy at the intersection of copyright and technology. He previously founded or held management and advisory roles in a series of startups-experiencing both utter failure and moderate success through acquisitions by Sony, Lycos, Yahoo!, Microsoft, and AOL.
David first collided with the music industry in 1998, when he launched Noisebox, experimenting with both free and subscription-based models for music services. Prior to his startup addiction, David was an exchange member and market maker in currency options at the CME in Chicago. He holds a PhD in Management from Vanderbilt, an MBA from AGSM, and a BA in Economics from Northwestern.
