Simon Darlow, songwriter and producer / Board member, PRS for Music (UK)

Simon Darlow was head chorister of Chichester Cathedral and a music scholar at Lancing College. He has worked as a composer arranger and player since 1982.

After a brief spell in the Buggles with Trevor Horn (Adventures in Modern Recording Album), Simon co wrote several his which were produced by Trevor, including ” Give Me Back My Heart” for Dollar and the million selling “Slave To The Rhythm” by Grace Jones. He subsequently
wrote and co wrote for many artists including Toyah, Cliff Richard, Shirley bassey, Elkie Brooks, Martine Mcutcheon, Rupert Everett and Carol Decker (T’Pau) amongst others.

As a player and arranger he worked with many including Musical Youth(Pass the Dutchie), Don Henley, Jody Watley, Bucks Fizz, Bill Bruford and the Dyvinals.

In recent years he has written Theme tunes and scores for over 90 TV shows including Idents for BBC Global TV, the Neslon Mandela obituary for BBC news, the Shanghi TV News idents, the Volvo Ocean Race (theme and classical suite) ‘Hole In The Wall’ and X Factor for Fremantle.

He recently finished co writing and producing the new Toyah Album “In The Court Of The Crimson Queen, and scoring the music to ‘Pictures’ a short film starring Andrea Corr and Neil Donaldson. He is currently working on his 4th Production music album for Boosey and Hawkes.

He is a member of the BASCA media executive, a writer/director of ‘PRS for music’, The Mcps Prs Alliance Board and is a trustee of the PRS for music Foundation.
